Tinder announce new sponsorship to help bring girls cricket to the fore

by Tinder Corporation, 27th February 2021

At Tinder we’ve always found ways to help charities and sporting associations, especially those organisations who help promote sport to young people, so we were thrilled to be given the opportunity to partner with Church and Oswaldtwistle Cricket Club, who specialise in giving young people the chance to take part in this amazing sport. We’ll be sponsoring their brand new Girls’ section, which will be taking off in earnest once lockdown restrictions are lifted.

The decision to support Church CC was a no brainer for CEOs John and Paul:

“When the team at Church approached us with a view to forming a financial support partnership it was an easy decision. In our business we are passionate about teamwork, support, developing people and combining a group of skill sets and personalities to create something special. When we looked at the amazing vision that Church and Ossy have already begun rolling out we saw a lot of our drive and ambition reflecting back at us. Sponsoring the Girls’ section is especially rewarding for us and we take a great sense of pride in working with Church to make inroads into bringing this fantastic sport to those who have been historically held back from the mainstream. We cannot wait to celebrate with the players and the supporters at Church when they undoubtedly win matches, hearts and minds”

This summer, Church plan to field a girls team at U11 age group playing in friendly matches, as well as having a strong girls representation in mixed teams up to at U9, U11 and U13. The club have ambitious plans for expansion for girls cricket and aim to have teams from U9 up to U15 by Summer 2023.

Secretary of Church CC Andrew Bentley said

“We are keen to provide opportunities for both boys and girls to excel; but it is clear that, until recently, girls have been under-represented. With children having been prevented from engaging in activity for so long as a result of the pandemic, we felt that it was our duty to increase the amount of provision for all during this summer, and hope to greatly increase the number of juniors who are able to access sessions. We are delighted that Tinder Corp has seen the value in this and supported us financially to this end. They are a forward thinking company who share our own ambitions and ethos, and we are proud to have them on board as a partner”
