You’ve probably heard of ‘the cloud’ in the context of IT, but what exactly is it? And why are we so very excited about it?
What’s it all about?
In the simplest terms, cloud computing is computing based on the internet. Remember when every business ran a big, bulky server on the premises? (you know, the ones that took up loads of room and seemed to permanently require servicing), well cloud computing does away with the need for these multi-wired monstrosities and allows you perform the exact same processes from any location, using the internet as your back up.
Cloud computing is now so common place that it’s impossible to go through your day without using it in one form or another from checking your Facebook, to checking your bank balance. However, whilst the industry giants have been at home in the cloud for some time now, it’s taken a little while longer for the full benefits of the service to filter down to smaller companies.

Our customers benefit from a privately hosted cloud system in a secure data centre and we manage the contents for them, from initial setup, to maintenance and troubleshooting (yup, even in this day and age you can still need help to recover the odd accidentally deleted file!).
Whilst many people have been sceptical about cloud security in the past, the latest technology is just about as safe as it gets when it comes to data management, which means GDPR compliance is a cinch.
