Gavin Astor House Cabling Project

Gavin Astor House Cabling Project

The Scoop

Gavin Astor House (GAH), Royal British Legion Industries’ 50 bed, 24 hour care home, was introducing a new integrated care package system that would run the phone system, a nursing call care system and mobile care monitoring system.  The current network cabling within GAH was insufficient to run the new system and they therefore had a requirement to install a new cabling structure with a fibre link to their new 14 bedroom care home.

The Approach

As Tinder Corporation had previously installed the network cabling within the main head-office block at RBLI, we were assigned the task of installing the new cabling structure within Gavin Astor House.  This job entailed numerous meetings and site visits to discuss cabling plans/locations of network outlets, the best location for the comms cabinet and cable routes.  There were a total of 114 outlets (across 3 different floor levels), 3 fibre links and 2 comms cabinets to be installed.  As this was a 24 hour care home, it tends to be extremely busy in this building and our engineers had to work around this by always ensuring there was a minimum of 50% access along corridors and through doorways at all times.

The Happily Ever After

The job was completed earlier than the finish date wand to the highest standards. During the installation there were amendments made to the plans but we incorporated them to the satisfaction of the client.  With the job being completed earlier than anticipated, RBLI were able to progress with the installation of the new care system sooner.  The system was all installed and everything is running great, much to the delight of RBLI’s Jason Cass, who had this to say:

“I have never worked with a better company than Tinder Corporation and especially John Amey.  John will do anything he can to assist and is always available should you need him.  John will give you honest feedback about any job/task that Tinder has been asked about, even if that meant RBLI could do the task themselves to save some money!  The team that John has got working for him follow in his footsteps also.  They are very friendly, are more than happy to discuss any issues and explain everything that is being done and the work they do is amazing. Gavin Astor House is a very busy area and even with all this work being done, we didn’t hear anything negative about Tinder.  In fact everyone commented on how great they were!”
