Meet the Team: Darren Wilsonham

by Tinder Corp Media, 31st May 2021

For the last 4 years, Darren Wilsonham has been one of Tinder Corp’s top IT Service Engineers, so we caught up with him to find out why he does what he does, what he does when he doesn’t does IT and …er… well we over-used the word ‘does’ so let’s just hand over to Darren:

“Before coming to work At Tinder Corp, I was an IT manager at one of the biggest Galvanising companies in Europe, with over 3000 clients on our books. When the company merged there were a lot of redundancies being offered, and since I had a growing family (my daughters are now 9 and 6) I decided that this would be the time to move away from big corporations and look for something a little more family orientated.

I was actually offered a job in Birmingham initially, but I’ve lived in Kent for 20 years now and, as well as my wife and daughters, I have my parents close by; so when I saw the job opening at Tinder Corp, I knew the location would be perfect for me.

I’m pleased to say that I definitely made the right choice: Despite Tinder being a larger business, John and Paul are really family focused and the whole team are like a family in themselves – it’s a great place to work in terms of the people, plus the jobs themselves are interesting and varied. I still get to go up to London for jobs occasionally so it’s never boring.

I consider myself to be a very driven person and I want to move up within the company; hopefully even run my own division one day. I believe that John and Paul will do everything in their power to help me achieve my goals, so I upskill and take additional courses/qualifications whenever possible so that I can continue to strive towards bigger and better things. I really wouldn’t want to work anywhere else – I’m Tinder bound for the long run!

When I’m not working I love to spend time with my family: my eldest daughter Yasmine is an amazing gymnast so she has a pretty full schedule, and my youngest daughter Maya is a budding academic so there’s plenty there to keep me busy! I also love gardening and photography, so all in all life is pretty full on, but I can honestly say that I wouldn’t want it any other way”
