Meet the team – Simon Pennellier

by Tinder Corp Media, 10th January 2021

Here at Tinder Corp we’re incredibly proud of our staff retention rate: basically, when people come to work for us they seem to want to stay! This comes in really handy, especially when you find someone who’s great at their job, so this month we thought we’d introduce you to a real Tinder ‘old timer’ – Simon Pennellier.

Simon (who isn’t actually very old if we’re going to be honest) has worked at Tinder as a Service Engineer for a whopping 7 years, and is (luckily for us) planning on sticking around! We asked him why, even though we were slightly nervous of the answer, and this is what he said:

“I previously worked in printer repairs so tackling technological problems has always been a big part of my life. However, I reached a point where I wanted more of a challenge and IT seemed to represent just that. I’ve known CEOs John and Paul for a long time and I knew that any business they had started would be worth backing, so I reached out to them and they welcomed me aboard.

In my spare time I love to take things apart and see how they tick, or build things from scratch; whether it’s fixing my nephew’s games console or creating a piece of art from unwanted wood or metal, so for me my job is kind of an extension of my hobby.

I’m one of those lucky people who can claim to have total job satisfaction, which is why I’ve been with the company for so long and why I plan to stay! My work is so varied – from IT to cabling to telecoms, and I know that, as the business grows, I’ll be able to grow into new roles as well. I trust John and Paul completely and I’m so proud to have been part of the creation and growth of this business.

This year has been a tough one of course, but even throughout all of it I’ve enjoyed my job and loved being able to help our customers’ businesses keep going. There’s a real passion at Tinder Corp: a love of technology and an honesty and transparency when it comes to customer service that I find very appealing. It’s obvious why the company has such high staff retention: I certainly wouldn’t want to work anywhere else”
