The Scoop
You probably know that The Royal British Legion (TRBL) does incredible work throughout the UK and so we at Tinder were absolutely thrilled to be able to work with them on a large scale project.
We were initially recommended to the organisation’s Aylesford branch, where we were asked to undertake a complete refit in their comms room, but our relationship soon established itself as a nation-wide one…
The Approach
After getting to know the team at TRBL, we were asked to take on the project management of a large scale project, involving complete Wi-Fi overhauls and structured cabling refits in 6 Care Homes, 4 Break Centres, 16 Pop-in shops and 7 other offices across the UK.
Our biggest challenge with this project was to work with the staff and residents in each of the locations so that we caused minimum disruption. Because of the nature of the work undertaken by TRBL and the presence of such a variety of residents and visitors, we had to be extremely mindful of health and safety concerns, as well as being constantly aware of the needs of the people involved. Sometimes this meant that we fell behind schedule, but we were able to make this up elsewhere and the staff were clear that they would rather run over time than disrupt support services to the charity’s beneficiaries.
The Happily Ever After
Our work with The Royal British Legion has been fun and incredibly gratifying and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with them in the future.
Project Manager Paul Burnett, who’s worked closely with us throughout, had this to say:
“I’ve worked with The Royal British Legion for a long time and on refit projects you tend to run into all sorts of problems, not least of which is contacting the people who are supposed to be carrying out the work! However, I never had that problem with Tinder – if we needed to get their workers to come in at a different time, or change something about the installation, John was always right there on the end of the phone and got everything sorted straight away. Eventually we asked Tinder to take on project management because it was so much easier and faster for us to have everything centralised. Tinder is a great company to work with and was extremely flexible and reliable which, when you’re doing work as important as TRBL is doing, is invaluable”
